Hillside Referral program, earn $50!!

November 14th, 2011

Are you happy with the service provided to you by Hillside? We sure hope so. If you have a friend, family member, or neighbor that you think could benefit from our services then let them know! Hillside is currently running a referral program that is available to any of our current customers. Any customer can receive a $50 credit on their Hillside account simply by referring a new customer who signs up for our automatic heating oil delivery service.

Most referral programs have some fine print that companies hope get overlooked. Of course this offer does have some fine print as well, but it will be regular sized and we will say it right here:
Offer valid for the 2011-2012 heating season (through April 2012). New customer (referral) must sign up for automatic delivery of heating oil with a credit billing account. Current customer (referrer) will receive a $50 (fifty dollars) credit to their existing Hillside account after the first automatic delivery is made to the new customer.

That’s it, pretty simple.

Are higher oil prices really what “Oil Companies” want?

October 25th, 2011

There are actually 2 answers to that question depending where on the business food chain the question is asked, yes and no. When many people think of oil companies they think of the large oil companies that rule the industry. These are companies like ExxonMobil, BP, and Chevron. These companies are responsible for importing and refining the fuels that most of us are so dependent upon in one way or another. Far below that level are the companies like Hillside. Companies like ours hate when the price of fuel rises. Hillside is simply a middleman company. We rely on our suppliers who dictate the price of fuel to us. The higher our cost, the higher we have to charge our customers. As the prices increase customers become angry or cautious…this makes it harder for Hillside to keep a happy customer and continue to create goodwill in the communities.

I can say with 100% certainty that nobody is happier than middleman companies like Hillside when the price of fuel (or any resold product) decreases and stays at a manageable and reasonable price. It makes it easier for us to sell, and selling is the primary purpose of any business. At this level on the food chain the answer is a definitive “NO”, we do not want oil prices to continue to rise.

If you took the time to read this, thank you. Mention this blog entry or our Facebook posting to receive a dime per gallon of a delivery through Wednesday November 9th, 2011. Feel free to tell your friends and family :-)

Another interpretation of tier pricing and customer service

September 23rd, 2011

Many service companies throughout most industries offer different levels of service. This is sometimes referred to as tier pricing. Different tier levels will dictate what you may be charged for future services rendered, the response time you receive, , or sometimes simply the “privilege” to be a customer. In America and based on our free market economy there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Another view is that this can alienate customers, make some customers feel less important than others. This can be confusing to a customer that is looking for the best value for their dollar.

We here at Hillside Oil Heating and Air Conditioning think that every customer is important. Every retail oil customer pays the same price for heating oil. We have one price we quote if you pay cash at the door, prepay on a credit card, and our loyal billing or automatic customers receive 10 days billing time for that very same price. Some companies feel that loyal, automatic customers should pay more for heating oil. An automatic delivery customer is the lifeline of an oil company and the easiest to service.

Insurance plans on heating equipment also will sometimes fall into tiers with fancier names for the more they cost. Hillside only has one level of furnace protection. We offer an insurance plan that is easy to understand, includes most parts that fail due to normal wear and tear, and labor for those parts. CLICK HERE to view our insurance plan in full detail.

Long-term relationships are what businesses attempt to build with customers. Hillside does this through our service and customer satisfaction. Some companies achieve long-term relationships with lengthy contracts or customer commitments. Signing into a contract can ultimately lead to expensive cancelation fees. Some consumers may be afraid to make such long-term commitments. The commitments in our business are Hillside’s commitment to you, the customer. Hillside values your willingness to be our customer. If you are not happy with us we would always like the opportunity to work out the problem. If that is not possible you are able to discontinue services free of charge. This mentality and policy is what sets us apart and drives us to provide the very best customer service in the industry.

It is not too late to have your central air conditioner tuned up. After this long and unbearably hot season your unit may be stressed. Hillside Oil Heating & Air Conditioning is currently offering a tune-up for $79 (normally $99). Additional costs include only parts if necessary and refrigerant, which is discounted to $20 per pound (normally $30). That is at least a $40 savings on a central air conditioner tune-up. Give us a call to schedule, and make sure to mention this ad.

Hillside Oil Heating & Air Conditioning also does all full service repairs and replacements of HVAC equipment. If you are currently living without central air conditioning because it is broken down or does not exist, Hillside can solve either of those problems. FREE ESTIMATES on new or replacement equipment!

If your home is not in a position for central air conditioning there is now a solution for you. If you have been told that air conditioning is not an option because you do not have duct work, there is a solution for you! This includes older homes without the ability for ductwork, no attic, no basement, additions, or simply additional air. LG HVAC makes ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating units that are perfect for homes that cannot accommodate central air conditioning.

Another great year at the Cecil County Fair!

August 3rd, 2011

We had another great year at the Cecil County Fair. The heat was unbearable for the first few nights, but the turnout was decent. We got to meet and reconnect with a lot of great people, customers, and hopefully future customers.

Oil Tanks and Replacements

March 25th, 2011

Oil Tank Replacements / Installations:

Hillside Oil is licensed and able to install or replace oil tanks of almost any size.  We can work with you to make sure that your fuel storage is safe, environmentally secure and hassle free.

Indoors vs. Outdoors Fuel Oil Tank:

If you have room available inside to install an oil tank , it is the best place for it.

  • Outside tanks are subject to condensation inside the tank with changing temperatures putting water into your oil creating possible winter service problems & eventual corrosion inside your tank
  • Ice falling from your roof can break oil lines and gauge on top of your tank
  • Outside tanks can settle or become unstable, creating an environmental risk
  • Heating oil is kept warmer when indoors
  • An indoor tank lessens the possibility of tank and heating oil tampering

Standard Above Ground Steel Tank

Above ground fuel oil storage tanks by far are the simplest, require the least amount of maintenance and the most environmentally conscious choice when considering oil tanks.  Today’s above ground tanks come in many shapes & sizes to fit every application and space within your home.

Indoor Tank Drip Pan (Optional):

Catch a minor leak before it turns into a disaster with a drip pan that easily fits under most indoor tanks. Long length design encompasses valve & filter area as well, ensuring no leakage outside tray area. Easy to install under any tank. A drip pan can also be installed under an existing indoor tank.

Double Wall Home Heating Oil Tanks:

Roth Double Wall Tank
160, 275 and 400 gal capacity available

These tanks have a polyethylene inner tank that is enclosed by a galvanized, sheet metal outer jacket. The outer jacket is designed to hold and contain the contents of the inner tank, should a leak develop. The space between the inner tank and outer jacket is monitored by a gauge. Typically, these gauges use a sponge-like material which expands greatly when it comes in contact with a liquid, be it water or oil. The material swells and pushes a long, thin rod up so that the rod becomes visible at the top of the tank.
